Katy Perry Mansion Lawsuit: Former Owner Demands She and Ex-Partner Orlando Bloom Appear in Court

Pop superstar Katy Perry and her former fiancé Orlando Bloom—who ended their long-term relationship in 2025—have found their paths crossing once again due to a protracted legal dispute over a luxury real estate transaction. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Carl Westcott, the former owner of the property, alleges that Katy Perry has yet to pay millions of dollars in outstanding balances. Westcott has recently requested that the court issue subpoenas requiring both Perry and Bloom to appear for questioning.

The real estate litigation began several years ago when Westcott agreed to sell a luxury estate in Santa Barbara, California, for $15 million to Bernie Gudvi, a business manager representing Katy Perry.

Following the signing of the contract, Westcott had a change of heart and refused to hand over the property. He argued in court that at the time of signing, he had recently undergone surgery and was under the influence of painkillers, leaving him in an impaired mental state. He contended that the contract should therefore be voided, further alleging that Perry’s team took advantage of his physical condition to finalize the deal.

After years of legal proceedings, the court ultimately ruled the sales contract valid; Westcott lost the case and was ordered to surrender the property. However, the financial aspects of the transaction were not fully resolved, with the court ordering Perry’s side to pay an outstanding balance of approximately $4 million.

Westcott has now filed a new request with the court, claiming that while Perry wired $900,000 in June of this year, the remainder of the balance remains unpaid. He is seeking subpoenas for Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom to undergo questioning, aiming to clarify the status of the unpaid funds.

Katy Perry’s business manager, Bernie Gudvi, has disputed these claims. He stated that the “emergency” claimed by Karl does not actually exist. The reason the remaining balance has not been paid is that Karl himself owes Bernie approximately $3 million—a matter currently under appeal—meaning the financial dispute between the two parties has yet to be fully resolved.

Bernie has also questioned Karl’s motive for seeking to subpoena Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom, characterizing the move as an act of unnecessary harassment. The court has not yet issued a ruling on the subpoena request.
